A highly esteemed restaurant in Chicago’s Fulton Market was bestowed with a significant accolade on Wednesday, being recognized as one of the top restaurants in the world in the first part of a two-part ranking release. Smyth, one of only two restaurants in the city to hold three Michelin stars, was among three American establishments featured in this year’s “World’s 50 Best Restaurants” list.
Smyth attained its third Michelin star in November, making it only the 13th restaurant in the United States to receive this top rating. The restaurant, which opened its doors in 2016, landed at No. 90 on the initial list, with the remaining “50 Best” names set to be revealed at a later time.
In addition to Smyth, two other American restaurants made the 51-100 list. Cosme, an eatery inspired by Mexican cuisine and located in New York City, claimed the No. 99 spot, while Le Bernardin, a French global fusion restaurant also in New York City, was ranked at No. 71.
At Smyth, dishes are created using only the finest natural ingredients sourced through partnerships with small farmers and quality meat suppliers. The restaurant is located at 124 North Ada Street in Chicago.
