Tiffany Cromwell and Jaco van Dyk emerge victorious at the Swartberg 100 in the UCI Gravel World Series

Tiffany Cromwell and Jaco van Dyk emerged victorious in the grueling 170km South African UCI Gravel World Series race, held in Prince Albert. The women’s race saw a tight finish, with Tiffany crossing the line just over 14 minutes ahead of second-placed Robyn de Groot and more than half an hour ahead of Layla Schwellnus. Meanwhile, the men’s race was a thrilling battle, with Jaco narrowly winning by just one second over Marco Joubert, while Wessel Botha finished third.

The Swartberg 100 was a qualifier for the UCI Gravel World Championships in Belgium later this year, which will feature over 3,000m of elevation gain and the highest point being the Swartberg pass at an altitude of 1583m. In the women’s elite category, Tiffany led the way with a time of 6:13:18, followed closely by Robyn de Groot and Layla Schwellnus. On the men’s side, Marco Joubert finished second to Jaco van Dyk, with Wessel Botha rounding out the top three. Tristan Nortje and Rossouw Bekker also finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.
