UAE-China Merchandise Trade Surges in 2024, Reaching $42.14 Billion amidst Global Economic Challenges

UAE-China trade reaches 154.8 billion dirhams in just 5 months

During the first five months of 2024, the UAE and China experienced significant growth in merchandise trade, with a 6.46% increase in total value to $42.14 billion (154.78 billion dirhams) compared to $39.58 billion (145.38 billion dirhams) in 2023. While the UAE’s exports to China decreased by 1.66% to $15.97 billion (58.66 billion dirhams) during this period, its imports from China increased by 12% to $26.17 billion (96.12 billion dirhams). The trade balance surplus between the two countries during this time was about $10.2 billion ($37.47 billion) in favor of China, compared to $7.1 billion ($26 billion) in the same period last year.

In May, the volume of merchandise trade between the UAE and China increased by 9.39% to $8.85 billion (32.51 billion dirhams) compared to April 2024, but decreased by 1% compared to May 2023.
