UEFA Tackles Turf Issues at Frankfurt Arena Ahead of Euro 2024 Group C Matches

Uefa plans to ‘address’ pitch conditions in Frankfurt

The playing surface at Frankfurt Arena posed difficulties for players during the Euro 2024 Group C match between England and Denmark. Large chunks of turf were scattered across the field, prompting ground staff to collect grass in buckets after the game. In response to these challenges, Uefa has implemented a detailed maintenance plan to improve the quality of the pitch ahead of upcoming fixtures at the venue.

The organization, along with its independent pitch consultants, have been working closely with the grounds team in Frankfurt to ensure optimal playing conditions. The overall pitch rating has shown consistent improvement over the previous season. The next match scheduled to take place at Frankfurt Arena is on 23 June, where hosts Germany will face Switzerland in Group A. Following this, Slovakia and Romania will meet in Group E on 26 June, with the final game being a last-16 tie between the Group F winner and one of the four best third-placed teams on 1 July.

The efforts to improve the pitch are aimed at providing a better playing surface for the teams participating in these upcoming fixtures. With a focus on specific issues and enhanced maintenance, Uefa is committed to ensuring that all matches played at Frankfurt Arena are of top quality and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for players and fans alike.
