Vietnam and South Korea: Building a Stronger Future Together through Economic and Strategic Partnerships

Vietnam holds promise as an investment destination, says President Yoon Suk Yeol

During a recent meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with its neighbor. The two leaders discussed ways to enhance cooperation between their countries and highlighted the importance of Vietnam as a key partner in regional policies.

President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed interest in investing in Vietnam, particularly in energy and LNG projects, and praised Korean companies for creating a favorable investment environment. He also expressed interest in Vietnam’s renewable energy initiatives, such as wind power and LNG. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed increased cooperation and investment from Korean businesses in sectors like semiconductors, digital transformation, green technology, and biotechnology.

The two leaders agreed to continue collaborating in international and regional forums of mutual interest, pledging to strengthen cooperation within ASEAN frameworks, including the ASEAN-Korea partnership. President Yoon Suk Yeol suggested elevating the relationship between the two countries to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed.

The meeting between the Vietnamese Prime Minister and South Korean President reflects the deepening ties between the two countries since upgrading their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in December 2022. The visit by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh marks a significant step towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation and economic relations between Vietnam and South Korea.
