Walgreens has teamed up with Open Door Health Center of Illinois to offer HIV and STI testing in DeKalb for National HIV Testing Day on June 27 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Walgreens located at 100 W. Lincoln Highway. The testing is free for all participants.
Those who attend can receive rapid HIV and hepatitis C testing, as well as tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia. Rapid test results will be available in just 20 minutes, while the remaining results will be provided in five to seven business days. In addition to testing, PrEP and treatment referrals and counseling will also be offered at the event.
According to Perry Maier, executive director of Open Door Health Center of Illinois, getting tested for HIV and other STIs is crucial in order to know one’s status and make informed decisions about their health care needs. Early engagement in care is also important for better health outcomes.
Open Door Health Center of Illinois has been participating in National HIV Testing Day for over 20 years and is proud to collaborate with Walgreens for this event. They have testing available at three different Walgreens locations, including Aurora, DeKalb, and Streamwood. For more information about the event, visit GreaterThan.org/Walgreens or odhcil.org
