Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is working on enhancing its generative AI tools across its platforms. The company’s chatbot-like assistant, Meta AI, is powered by the open-source large language model Llama 3. In May, it was revealed that WhatsApp was testing a tool that allows users to generate a personalized profile image from a text description. Now, WhatsApp is developing a new AI-powered feature that will enable users to create personalized images of themselves from a selection of their photos.
The beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.24.14.13 includes a feature called ‘AI-generated images for you’, which allows users to select a set of their photos for Meta AI to analyze and generate personalized images. Users can take setup photos of themselves, which will be analyzed by Meta AI and used as a basis for generating new images.
To use this feature, users can type ‘Imagine me’ in the Meta AI assistant’s conversation, prompting the generation of personalized AI images based on the user’s shared photos and text descriptions. This feature is currently in development and will be available to users in a future update. However, it is optional and can be disabled in the app’s settings.
It is important to note that Meta’s AI is only available in select countries and awaits implementation in Europe. The development of these AI features demonstrates how technology continues to evolve and impact various industries, including gaming, betting, and online entertainment.
