Wild Mushroom Hike and Science Adventure Await at Cuba Circulating Library

Science Heroes to Speak at Cuba Library on July 10th

The Cuba Circulating Library is inviting you to join them on a wild mushroom hike at Bush Hill State Forest on July 13. During the hike, you will have the opportunity to explore the jungle with Science Heroes on a treasure-hunting adventure.

For teens ages 12-18, there will be an opportunity to try out cool experiments using leaf blowers, confetti cannons, liquid foam, nail polish remover, and more. The 3:00 pm workshop will showcase awesome science experiments like Foam Hand, Toilet Tornado, and H20 Cannon. Space is limited for the teen workshop, so registration is required. Adults interested in learning about local mushrooms are invited to join a guided mushroom ID hike with Sam Warren on Saturday, July 13 at 3 pm at Bush Hill State Forest. This foray will focus on expanding eco-literacy through mushroom identification and understanding mushrooms’ roles in ecosystems. The hike will cover topics like mushroom anatomy, habitat and species identification led by NYSOGA licensed hiking guides Sam Warren and Brandon Miller. Both guides have their NY Wild Mushroom Safety Certifications and over 25 years of combined foraging experience.
