1. “Celebrating the Surge in Literacy Rates on World Book Day: A Call to Continue Promoting Education

New Milestone: World Literacy Achieves Record Levels

Today is World Book Day, a day to celebrate the joy of reading. At GZERO, we are avid readers and we hope you are too. While literature may not have the same popularity it once did, we are currently living in a time where literacy is at an all-time high. In fact, 87% of people above the age of 15 were able to read in 2022, a significant increase from 67% in 1979.

Let’s take some time to reflect on the importance of reading and the impact it has on our lives. Pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read and immerse yourself in the world of words. Let’s continue to nurture our love for reading and encourage others to do the same. Happy World Book Day!

The progress that has been made in increasing literacy rates is truly remarkable. Looking back even further, the World Economic Forum estimates that only 12% of the world’s adults could read and write in 1820. The increase in literacy rates over the centuries is a testament to our dedication as a society to education and knowledge. It’s amazing to see how far we have come in such a short amount of time.

On this World Book Day, let us celebrate not only the joy of reading but also recognize the importance of continuing to promote literacy and education for all. As avid readers ourselves, we encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to explore new worlds through books and develop their love for reading.
