111-Year-Old Accountant Takes Over Guinness World Record as Oldest Man in History

111-Year-Old Briton Becomes World’s Oldest Man and Shares Longevity Secret with Guinness World Records

John Tinniswood, a remarkable individual at 111 years old, has recently inherited the Guinness World Records title from a Venezuelan man who passed away at the age of 114. Born in 1912 in Merseyside, northern England, Tinniswood has worked as an accountant and in the postal service for over fifty years before retiring. Despite his impressive age, Tinniswood believes that luck played a significant role in his longevity and that there is no special secret to his diet. His favorite food is fish and chips, which he enjoys every Friday.

According to Guinness World Records experts and the Gerontology Research Group, Tinniswood’s claim to the title of the world’s oldest man has been confirmed. The oldest man in history was Japan’s Jiroemon Kimura, who lived to be 116 years and 54 days. The oldest living woman and person overall is Spain’s Maria Branyas Morera, who is currently 117 years old.

Reflecting on the state of the world, Tinniswood comments that it is constantly changing and that there is some progress being made. He believes that the world is moving in the right direction, albeit slowly. When asked about the secret to living a long life, Tinniswood responded simply, “You either live long or you live short, and you can’t do much about it.”
