Emmanuel Wanyonyi: Teenager shatters road mile world record in first competitive race

Emmanuel Wanyonyi, a teenager from Kenya, made headlines by breaking the world record in the road mile event on Saturday at Herzogenaurach, Germany. At just 19 years old, Wanyonyi set a new record with an impressive time of three minutes and 54.56 seconds during his first competitive race over this distance.

Wanyonyi is primarily recognized as an 800-meter runner and showcased his versatility by achieving this milestone. His talent was evident when he won the silver medal in the men’s 800m at the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

Prior to his impressive performance in the road mile event, Wanyonyi had already made a name for himself in track and field.
