20 Students from Nha Trang’s Vinh Truong Ward Hospitalized with Food Poisoning after Breakfast

Several students in Nha Trang are under suspicion of food poisoning

On Monday morning, a number of elementary and middle school students in Vinh Truong ward, Nha Trang city experienced symptoms of food poisoning after eating breakfast. The Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital received 20 students, including 17 from Vinh Truong Primary School and 3 from Tran Hung Dao Secondary School. Tam Tri Nha Trang General Hospital also admitted 8 patients, while one child was treated at Phuc Sinh General Clinic.

After further investigation, the Nha Trang City People’s Committee recorded a total of 28 students from both schools hospitalized with signs of food poisoning. Unfortunately, one student passed away due to an underlying heart condition that may have been exacerbated by the sushi they consumed before experiencing symptoms. Doctors believe that the remaining patients may have suffered from food poisoning, characterized by vomiting, difficulty breathing and stomach pain. Fortunately, all patients are now in stable condition and under observation.

The parents of the affected children shared that their kids had eaten chicken rice at a nearby restaurant before experiencing stomach pain. In response to this incident, the police, ward committee and health sector are working together to investigate the restaurants selling food to the students. This is not the first time that the Khanh Hoa health sector has dealt with cases of food poisoning involving students and restaurant patrons.
