In honor of his 100th birthday, Paul Trumbetas, a World War II veteran and Phillies fan, had an unforgettable celebration at the Southeastern Veterans’ Center in Spring City, Chester County. Surrounded by military vehicles and the Phillie Phanatic, Trumbetas was honored for his service to the country.

Trumbetas, a dedicated fan of the Phillies, Eagles, 76ers, and Flyers, was thrilled by the surprise party thrown in his honor. Alongside his wife Barbara and youngest daughter, Fran Griffith, he enjoyed the festivities which included an honor guard, cake and even an ice cream truck. The celebration culminated with Phillies legend Mickey Morandini presenting Trumbetas with the ball he will throw for the first pitch at a Phillies game.

The special event was organized after Trumbetas’ daughter Denise Selzer reached out to the team for a simple favor for her father’s birthday. Reflecting on the incredible turnout and support from the community, Griffith expressed her happiness and gratitude for the unexpected celebration.

As the party came to a close, Trumbetas shared a simple message with his beloved team – “Keep hitting”. The veteran cherished every moment from this once-in-a-lifetime event that truly made his 100th birthday one for the ages.
