A Dominant Start to the 2024 Season: Powerful Baseball and Athletics in Washtenaw County

Powers baseball team kicks off season with impressive no-hitter performance

The 2024 season kicked off for Powers Catholic’s baseball team with a dominant win over Kearsley. Pitching a combined no-hitter, Grant Garman and Fisher Hendershot struck out a total of 15 batters in the 9-0 victory. Six players contributed hits for the Chargers, with Nik Stimac driving in two RBIs and Isaac Sturgess scoring three runs. Coming off a successful run to the Division 2 state semifinals last year, Powers Catholic is ready to take on whatever challenges come their way.

In lacrosse action, Grand Blanc defeated Clarkston 18-5, with Molly Leyes scoring four goals and Anna Borisenko and Aubrey Wallberg adding three each. Aliva Tate, Audrey Vanvalin, and Sophie Piper also made significant contributions with two goals apiece for the Bobcats.

Bath shut out Owosso 4-0 in soccer, with Iszabelle Jameson making 10 saves in goal for Owosso. Bath outshot the Trojans 16-3. Meanwhile, LakeVille secured a hard-fought victory over Memphis with Macy Freeman scoring all three goals for LakeVille, bringing her career total to an impressive 99.

In tennis, Imlay City tied with Madison Heights Lamphere in a closely contested match that ended in a tie of 4-4. Alexa Lengemann secured a singles victory for Imlay City while doubles teams Addison Cameron and Sarah Lauwers, Julie Metter and Morgan Vermeesch, and Sara Belleville and Riley Parent also claimed victories.
