A Dream Realized: The Launch of the Southern Arizona Museum of Science and Technology in Sierra Vista

Community Welcomed to Explore New Southern Arizona Museum of Science and Technology

In 2023, Ron Hyde’s long-standing dream of seeing a history museum in Sierra Vista finally began to materialize. Working closely with Roger Weller, a former geology professor at Cochise College and member of the Huachuca Mineral and Gem Club, Hyde is now the curator of the Southern Arizona Museum of Science and Technology. Their goal is to highlight the rich mineral and fossil history of Cochise County and showcase Sierra Vista as a hidden gem worth exploring.

Hyde and Weller are passionate about using the museum to promote STEM education and boost the local economy through tourism. Recognizing the importance of sparking interest in science at a young age, they hope to make a lasting impact on visitors. The museum operates Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and suggests a donation for entry: $10 for adults, $8 for military/seniors, and $5 for kids. More details, including the address, can be found on their Facebook page.
