Butte College inches closer to completion of new science building with placement of final beam – Chico Enterprise-Record

The construction of Butte College’s new 72,276-square-foot science building recently reached a major milestone as the final beam was placed in Butte Valley. The campus community gathered to celebrate this significant achievement in the construction process, which began in April 2023 and is scheduled to open in fall 2025.

The new science building will be a game-changer for students and the campus community, offering upgraded classrooms, collaborative study spaces, and sustainable facilities. It will also house a planetarium, providing students with an immersive learning experience in astronomy. The building will offer classes in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, construction management, nursing, allied health, and general education in the sciences.

Funding for this project comes from Measure J, a $190 million bond measure approved by voters in November 2016, as well as the state’s Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant. This new building represents a significant investment in expanding and enhancing the educational facilities at Butte College for students and the campus community.
