Highlights from Day 2 of the Accelerating Health Equity Conference

The AHA Accelerating Health Equity Conference in Kansas City, Mo was a day full of activities for 1,000 leaders from hospitals, health systems, and community and public health organizations. Day 2 of the conference featured breakout sessions, table conversations, networking opportunities, and community immersion experiences.

The highlights of the day included breakout sessions focusing on transforming maternal health care for Black women and addressing food insecurity through hospital-based programs that emphasize community collaboration. Additionally, the Rise to Health Coalition drove change and advanced health equity through their presentations.

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in community immersion experiences to local organizations such as the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum, Operation Breakthrough, Uzazi Village, and BlaqOut. These activities provided valuable insights and opportunities for learning and networking. The Minneapolis-based Pillsbury House Theatre performed “Breaking Ice,” a performance that explored diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Overall, the conference provided attendees with a unique experience that allowed them to learn about different aspects of healthcare while also providing them with opportunities to network with other professionals in their field.
