A woman in her 40s recently underwent abdominal liposuction and scar removal at a spa, but a few days later experienced extensive bruising and necrosis in the area around her navel and waist. The patient sought treatment at Hanoi Medical University Hospital after two weeks of care at a hospital in Thanh Hoa.

A computed tomography scan revealed diffuse subcutaneous tissue infiltration in the abdomen, flanks, and subcutaneous fluid collection. Dr. Hoang Hong, Head of the Department of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, explained that the patient’s condition is complex. The skin around her abdomen, navel, and navel itself were extensively necrotic and infected. Without prompt treatment, the necrosis could lead to a life-threatening infection. The patient is currently undergoing comprehensive care and will soon undergo debridement to remove necrotic skin, repair the fascia of the abdominal wall and navel area.
