Alstom Announces Sale of North American Signaling Business to Knorr-Bremse – Important Update for Railroad Industry Professionals

Alstom, a global rail technology company, has announced the sale of its North American conventional signaling business to Knorr-Bremse AG for approximately $671 million. The transaction involves the conventional portion of Alstom’s North American signaling business, which generated around $320 million in revenue during the fiscal year 2023.

The sale is part of Alstom’s comprehensive company action plan that was announced on November 15, 2023. Company officials stated that they will share more details about how they will maintain a strong and sustainable investment grade rating and achieve their $2.1 billion deleveraging target on May 8.

Alstom will continue to operate in other segments of the North American signaling market, such as communications-based train control and European train control systems, according to company officials. The sale is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
