Anti-Israeli Protests in Jordan: A Growing Call for Political Action Amidst Regional Tensions

Police in Jordan make arrests on third day of anti-Israel protests

For the third consecutive evening, anti-Israeli demonstrations have been held in the Jordanian capital near the Israeli Embassy. These protests have become a recurring event in recent weeks, with thousands of protesters taking to the streets to call for action against Israel’s aggression towards the Palestinian people.

On March 26, demonstrators attempted to approach the embassy but were stopped by police and gendarmerie forces. Despite this setback, they continue to demand that the Jordanian government take action against Israeli aggression, including cancelling agreements such as the peace treaty and the gas agreement with Israel. They also want a halt to the delivery of goods from Persian Gulf countries through Jordan and a ban on exporting vegetables.

Reports from Jordanian media indicate that law enforcement is detaining individuals who disrupt public order during these demonstrations. In addition to the protests in Amman, an anti-Israeli demonstration is also taking place in Aqaba, where participants are seen holding pictures of Yahya Sinouar and waving Hamas flags.

The discontent and demands of these protesters suggest a strong sentiment against Israel and a desire for political action by the Jordanian government. These protests reflect ongoing tensions in the region and highlight how Israeli-Palestinian conflicts can impact neighboring countries like Jordan. The presence of law enforcement at these protests underscores the need for security measures to ensure public safety during these events.
