Apple, the company known for always seeking out the next big thing, has recently shifted its focus from building an electric car to developing a home robot. Robotics expert Simon Beckers from Brubotics at VUB notes that while a mobile robot that can track a person may not be overly complex to develop, its capabilities and tasks will determine its difficulty.
Beckers believes that the future of robotics lies primarily in industry, but also expects that household tasks will eventually be largely taken over by robots. Rather than one large super robot that can do everything, he predicts the development of smaller robots that can perform specific tasks.
