A’s set to return to Sutter Health Park in 2025, but must pass MLBPA’s approval first

MLBPA and MLB in talks to ensure Sutter Health Park meets league standards for Oakland A’s

The Athletics have announced they will be playing at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento for the 2025 through 2027 seasons before relocating to Las Vegas in 2028. However, before this move can happen, the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) will need to approve that Sutter Health Park meets league standards. According to a spokesperson for the union, discussions have already begun with MLB about this issue and are expected to continue.

Sutter Health Park, originally a Minor League Stadium, recently underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation. The park is currently home to the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. However, these improvements may not be enough to meet MLB standards for use by the A’s for the upcoming seasons.

Currently, Sutter Health Park is lacking improvements such as upgrades to clubhouses and weight rooms, as well as enhancements to the field and other amenities. These enhancements are crucial for the park to be approved by the MLBPA for use by the A’s for their return to Sacramento in 2025.

The Sacramento Kings addressed concerns about meeting MLB standards in a FAQ attached to their press release. They stated that modifications would be made to meet these standards, including upgrades
