Asia Pacific Leads the Way in Travel Industry Growth, But Trends Suggest Stabilization: Skift Travel Health Index Highlights

Growth Stabilizes in Asia Pacific, Leading the Way

Asia Pacific has emerged as a key driver of growth in the travel industry, leading the Skift Travel Health Index in February 2024. This is largely due to China’s reopening of its borders for travel after three years, which resulted in a 13% growth in the region. However, while growth numbers are still positive, they are slightly decreasing compared to previous months, indicating a trend towards stabilization.

The Skift Travel Health Index Score by Region provides an insight into the performance of different regions in the travel industry. While Asia Pacific continues to lead in growth, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, and North America are also seeing varying levels of growth and stabilization.

Vacation rentals have seen significant growth during the pandemic but are now showing signs of stabilization. Demand for vacation rentals surged with double-digit growth, but recent data suggests a deceleration in this trajectory, indicating a moderation in demand levels. Despite this, the sector’s performance remains above pre-pandemic levels.
