Atlanta Braves’ Ace Pitcher Spencer Strider Injured, to Undergo MRI; Team Rallies for Extra Innings Win in His Absence

Braves’ ace Spencer Strider scheduled for MRI following Friday start due to elbow discomfort

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider experienced elbow discomfort during Friday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. As a result, he will undergo an MRI on Saturday to determine the extent of the issue. Despite his struggles, the Braves were able to rally and force extra innings in Friday’s game. They eventually secured a win in the 10th inning thanks to a Travis d’Arnaud single.

Strider, who is in his third full MLB season, has been a key starting pitcher for the Braves. He has a career 3.37 ERA and has been a contender for the Cy Young Award in the past season. If Strider needs to go on the injured list, the Braves have several potential options to fill his spot in the rotation, including young players like AJ Smith-Shawver and Bryce Elder, as well as more experienced pitchers like Dylan Dodd, Allan Winans, and Huascar Ynoa.

The MRI results will reveal more about Strider’s condition and determine if he will need to undergo surgery or rest for an extended period of time. The Braves will continue their series with the Diamondbacks on Saturday without Strider on their roster. They will need to rely on other pitchers in their rotation and potentially call up prospects from their minor league system if necessary to fill his spot.
