Austrian Airlines (AUA) has made progress in negotiations for a new collective agreement with its on-board staff, with discussions taking place at various levels last week. AUA spokeswoman Sophie Matkovits confirmed that negotiations continued on Sunday and are ongoing. Both parties have agreed to keep the details of the discussions confidential at this time.
Recent voting among members of the vida union revealed that 90 percent of the on-board staff rejected AUA’s final offer. The decision was made by an 88 percent voter turnout, with around 60 percent of the on-board staff being vida members. The offer from AUA includes an 18 percent salary increase for 3,500 flight attendants and pilots over a period of 2 years and 10 months, with a guaranteed 4 percent variable part.
Negotiations for the new collective agreement have been ongoing since mid-January and have seen significant unrest, including strikes and company meetings resulting in flight cancellations and financial losses for the airline. While the discussions are constructive, the details of the negotiations are being kept under wraps for now.
