Austrian Archery Star and Indian Olympian Victorious at Hyundai Archery World Cup in Mexico

Compound titles won by Vennam and Wiener at season opener in Shanghai 2024

In Mexico, the 27-year-old Austrian shooter will make his first appearance at the Hyundai Archery World Cup after a difficult season last year where he didn’t win anything. He is thrilled about this victory and expressed his excitement at winning in Mexico. Meanwhile, Jyothi Surekha Vennam will be appearing in her second Hyundai Archery World Cup match after participating in Hermosillo last year. She secured her slot in the final by beating the top-seeded archer from Mexico in a close match. Despite Andrea Becerra having a point to lose with an arrow to go, Vennam’s last shot broke high, landing in the eight, which gave her the opportunity to secure the win. The Hyundai Archery World Cup is currently underway with three stages instead of four. The points accrued from high finishes in Shanghai have put archers in good positions to qualify for the final based on rankings, even if they did not win a stage like Vennam and Wiener. The competition will conclude with recurve finals on Sunday.
