BC Winger Ryan Leonard Chooses to Return for Sophomore Season, Snubs Washington Capitals NHL Playoffs Invite.

Highly touted prospect Ryan Leonard is making his way back to Boston College

Boston College winger Ryan Leonard has decided to return for his sophomore season, foregoing the opportunity to play with the Washington Capitals in the NHL playoffs. General manager Brian MacLellan confirmed this decision on Wednesday, stating that Leonard expressed a desire to continue playing at the NCAA level before transitioning to professional hockey. MacLellan expressed support for Leonard’s choice, praising his leadership and progress during his first year at Boston College.

Leonard was the eighth pick in the draft last year and had an impressive season at Boston College, recording 60 points in 41 games and helping the Eagles reach the Frozen Four before losing in the final to Denver. While he could have potentially played in the NHL playoffs like other young players, he has chosen to focus on another season at Boston College. This decision will allow him to continue developing his skills under some of the best coaches and trainers in college hockey.

MacLellan mentioned that he will continue to monitor Leonard’s development and progress during his sophomore season, looking forward to seeing him build upon his successful freshman year. In addition, MacLellan also stated that he is excited about what Leonard will bring back with him from playing against top-level competition in college hockey.

Boston College is currently leading its conference, and with Leonards leadership and talent on their lineup they are looking forward to competing for a national championship next year.
