Blood Clot Concerns Surrounding AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccine: Debunking Myths and Misconceptions with Factual Information

Is it necessary to test for blood clots after receiving the Covid vaccine?

Recently, AstraZeneca admitted that their Covid-19 vaccine may cause blood clots in rare cases, causing confusion among the public. As a result, many people rushed to do D-Dimer tests or purchased oral medications to dissolve them and reduce the risk of stroke. However, it’s important to note that the most recent injection was about two years ago and has had hardly any side effects to date. The Ministry of Health states that any side effects from the vaccine only occur within 28 days of use.

In Vietnam, millions of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been administered with only a few cases of side effects related to thrombosis. The World Health Organization (WHO) also confirmed that side effects of the vaccine are extremely rare. While D-Dimer testing is a specific method for detecting blood clots in the veins, it can be misleading and lead to unnecessary confusion and expenses if used for normal health individuals. If an abnormality is detected in the D-Dimer test, further tests must be done to determine the location and extent of the clot so appropriate treatment can be provided. Not all blood clots can be treated with medication, so it’s essential not to use oral medications to dissolve blood clots without proper medical guidance. It’s also important to seek medical attention at a reputable facility if any health abnormalities are noticed for timely diagnosis and treatment.
