On Tuesday, Claremore Public Schools will be closed due to a bomb threat made to Baker Hughes, a drilling company located across the street from Will Rogers Junior High, Claremore High School, and Roosa Elementary. The Claremore Police Department is currently investigating the threat.
In response to the threat, Baker Hughes immediately notified law enforcement and sent their employees home as a precaution. The safety of employees and the community is their top priority. While the threat was not related to the school, Claremore Public Schools decided to cancel classes at all sites for May 7 out of an abundance of caution.
School leaders explained in a statement to Zebra families that the threat near the campuses presented hazardous conditions in the area. They emphasized that safety is their greatest priority and that the Claremore Police Department needs more time to investigate the threat. The support and guidance of local law enforcement in protecting students and staff during this difficult situation was greatly appreciated.
