Boulder County: A Healthy Community with Hidden Challenges

Local Data for Health Week Showcases Boulder County’s Statistics

On Monday, Boulder County Public Health officials recognized positive health statistics during National Public Health Week. The county has a low teen birth rate of just five births per 1,000 females aged 15 to 19, and residents have access to many exercise opportunities due to their proximity to parks and recreation facilities.

However, despite these strengths, Boulder County also faces several challenges. Suicide rates in the county are higher than the national average, and air pollution levels exceed both state and national averages. These struggles are areas of concern that Boulder County Public Health is actively working to address in order to improve the overall health and well-being of residents.
