469 People Suspected of Poisoning After Eating Bread in Dong Nai

The number of people suspected of being poisoned after eating bread in Long Khanh City has reached 469, with two children requiring dialysis. This information was announced by the People’s Committee of Long Khanh City on May 3. Of the 469 patients, 321 are being treated at Long Khanh General Hospital and are all in stable health with no serious cases. Eleven cases were transferred to higher level hospitals, and 19 cases have been discharged. Many patients were prescribed medication to take home for monitoring.

Meanwhile, Dong Nai Children’s Hospital is currently treating 12 pediatric patients, two of whom require mechanical ventilation and dialysis. The remaining 7 cases received intravenous fluids, antibiotics, oxygen, and correction of disorders. One of the children requiring dialysis and mechanical ventilation is a 6-year-old boy who ate bread on April 30 and experienced vomiting, loose stools, seizures, and was hospitalized in critical condition. The other serious case is a 7-year-old boy who also ate bread on April 30 and experienced vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Doctor Le Quang Trung, Director of Dong Nai Department of Health, mentioned that the number of suspected poisoning cases is increasing but the patients’ health has stabilized after being hospitalized.
