Buckhorn’s Caleb Holt: The National Phenom Who Continues to Win and Influence on the Court

Caleb Holt, Alabama’s Mr. Basketball, weighs recruitment options between Alabama and Auburn

Caleb Holt of Buckhorn High School made history by becoming the first sophomore to win the state’s prestigious Mr. Basketball award, presented by the Alabama Sports Writers Association. This was not his only achievement, as he was also named the Class 6A Player of the Year for the second consecutive year at the high school basketball banquet in Montgomery.

Throughout the season, Holt averaged impressive statistics of 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, three steals, and 2.4 assists for the Bucks, leading his team to a 23-5 record. He was instrumental in their back-to-back state championship wins and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Class 6A state tournament. Holt’s outstanding performance on the court earned him recognition as Gatorade and MaxPreps Alabama Player of the Year.

Despite these accolades, Holt remains focused on his future goals. He is ranked as the No. 3 player nationally by 247 Sports and aims to represent the U17 USA Basketball team, win more state championships with Buckhorn and elevate the program to national championship contention. With guidance from his father, he strives to stay humble and continuously improve as a player.

Recruiting-wise, Holt holds offers from top programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Houston and Cincinnati. He has visited both Alabama and Auburn where he has formed positive relationships with their coaching staffs. While appreciative of their interest he is taking his time to make a decision on his future collegiate career .
