In January, Mike Edwards helped the Chiefs defeat the Bills in a thrilling playoff game. Now, he is hoping to contribute to a revamped secondary in Buffalo after signing a one-year contract. With two Super Bowl wins under his belt, Edwards brings valuable experience to his new team as they look to take the next step towards reaching the Super Bowl.

Buffalo is in dire need of safeties this offseason, as they will be starting fresh after having the same starting tandem for the past seven seasons. Micah Hyde is a free agent and may consider retirement, while Jordan Poyer has already signed with the Miami Dolphins. Edwards aims to build on the standard set by Hyde and Poyer and is ready to work hard to live up to their reputation as some of the best safeties in the league.

In his previous season with the Chiefs, Edwards had one interception, two fumble recoveries, and one returned for a touchdown in 17 games, including five starts. He also played in all four playoff games and started in the win over the Bills in the divisional round. Having spent his first four seasons with the Buccaneers, where he also won a Super Bowl, Edwards has a total of eight interceptions, five fumble recoveries, and three sacks in his career. He has a strong playoff record with three interceptions in 11 games. His four defensive touchdowns are tied for second-most in the NFL since 2021.
