Bulldog Equestrian Team Takes Third at SEC Championship, Named All-Championship Team Member and Most Outstanding Performers

Georgia’s equestrian team claims third place in SEC Championship

The University of Georgia equestrian team finished third at the SEC championship by defeating South Carolina 12-7 in a consolation match on Saturday. Despite falling to Auburn in the semi-finals on Friday, the Bulldogs had a standout performance during the championship.

Senior Nora Andrews was named to the All-Championship team in Flat after winning both of her rides with impressive scores. She earned an 87 on Friday against her Auburn counterpart and a score of 89.33 on Saturday against her South Carolina opponent.

Two Bulldogs were recognized as Most Outstanding Performers during the consolation round against South Carolina. Junior Catalina Peralta received the honor in Fences with a score of 87.67, while sophomore Raegan Shepherd was recognized for her performance in Reining with a score of 72. Head coach Meghan Boenig expressed determination after the competition, stating, “We have work to do when we go home. We are not leaving here like we want so we will go back, get to work, and make sure days like today repeat.”

Competition points were split in Flat between the Bulldogs and the Gamecocks, with each team winning two points. Andrews and Peralta were contributors to Georgia’s success in the Flat competition. In Western, Georgia outscored South Carolina 3-2, with junior Jax Bound earning the first point for UGA. Georgia also had a strong showing in Fences, sweeping with scores of 83 and above contributed by various team members.

As the competition wrapped up with Horsemanship, the Bulldogs’ Leah Anderson and Jillian Stopperich each added points to the final score of the day
