Gonzaga sits at No. 7 in CBS Sports’ Preseason Top 25 and 1 for 2024-25

The Gonzaga Bulldogs are once again ranked among the top teams in college basketball for the upcoming season. They were ranked No. 7 by CBS Sports in their Top 25 and 1 rankings for the 2024-25 season.

Head coach Mark Few, who has led the team to nine consecutive Sweet 16 appearances, is expected to have most of his squad returning from last year’s roster, with the exception of Anton Watson. The team may also see the addition of Michael Ajayi, a 6-foot-7 wing who was an All-WCC player at Pepperdine last season and has decided not to enter the NBA Draft. Steele Venters, who won Big Sky Player of the Year honors in 2022-23 but missed last season due to a torn ACL, is anticipated to make a comeback this season.

Gonzaga’s roster is filled with talent and experience, which has created high expectations from both fans and analysts alike. Gary Parrish from CBS Sports praised the team’s strong performance in the previous season and predicted their return to the NCAA Tournament for their 26th consecutive time in the upcoming season. Other sources like ESPN, The Athletic, and 247Sports also had them positioned near the top two in their rankings, while FOX Sports, Sports Illustrated, and The Field of 68 had them placed near the top five as well.
