Café Owner Terry Ortiz Reacts to Tragic Motor Vehicle Collision in East El Paso

Business in East El Paso temporarily closes due to crash causing damages

Terry Ortiz, owner of Cradles & Crayons Kids Cafe in East El Paso, was informed about a crash that occurred in the cafe’s parking lot by her employees after they noticed social media posts about the incident. The cafe provides free meals for over 180 children in the community who participate in after-school programs or whose parents may not be home.

The crash happened on Monday morning and resulted in the temporary closure of the cafe for a week. This will result in a loss of approximately 1,000 meals for the children who usually rely on them. The individuals responsible for the crash fled the scene after the incident occurred, according to witnesses.

Ortiz expressed her disappointment at having to close the cafe temporarily but stated that they are not planning to set up a GoFundMe page at this time and are waiting to see if their insurance will cover the costs of repairs. The police received a call about the motor vehicle collision just before 1 a.m., and more details about the crash are currently being investigated. The community will be updated as more information becomes available in the coming days.
