Canada defeats United States 6-4 to clinch under-18 men’s world hockey championship

In the under-18 men’s world hockey championship, Canada secured their fifth gold title with a 6-4 victory over the United States. The game saw Gavin McKenna lead the Canadian team to victory with a hat trick and an assist. This win marks Canada’s fifth title since the tournament’s establishment in 1999.

Canada trailed 3-1 early in the game but rallied in the third period with goals from Cole Beaudoin, Tij Iginla, and Ryder Ritchie. Carter George’s outstanding performance in goal with 31 saves played a crucial role in securing the win for Canada. On the other hand, Cole Hutson, Christian Humphreys, Cole Eiserman, and Brodie Ziemer scored for the United States, with Nicholas Kempf making 19 saves in net.

In the bronze medal match, Sweden claimed a 4-0 victory over Slovakia thanks to Love Harenstam’s shutout performance with 36 saves. Lucas Pettersson broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the third period while Melvin Fernstrom, Alfons Freij, and Victor Eklund also contributed to Sweden’s victory. Slovakia made 25 saves in net by Alan Lendak.

The under-18 men’s world hockey championship concluded on a thrilling note as it showcased the talent and determination of young athletes.
