Celebrating Puppetry in Los Angeles: The Skirball Puppet Festival and Beyond

Immerse Yourself in a World of Dreams at the Skirball’s Enchanting Puppet Festival

The Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles is hosting the Skirball Puppet Festival on Sunday, April 28 from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors/students, and $13 for children ages 2 to 17. Walk-up admission may be available as advance tickets have been sold out.

In addition to the festival, Los Angeles has been celebrating puppets throughout April. National Puppet Day was traditionally held on March 21, but the city has embraced puppetry in a big way this month. From the recent Bob Baker Day celebration to the upcoming festival at the Skirball Cultural Center, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy these furry creatures in all their glory.

The Skirball Puppet Festival features a variety of puppet performances including the Bob Baker Marionettes, Blackstreet USA Theatre, and The Zuppeteers. There will also be musical performances by the Top Shelf Brass Band and workshops on the art of puppetry by Rogue Artists Ensemble. The Los Angeles Guild of Puppetry will be present at the festival showcasing their passion for puppets and offering events throughout the year. The theme for this year’s festival is “A World of Dreams,” which ties in perfectly with Maurice Sendak exhibition currently on display at the cultural center.

Overall, if you’re looking for a fun and unique experience that brings together artistry and entertainment, then don’t miss out on this exciting event!
