Charlotte Regional Business Alliance Bids Farewell to CEO Janet LaBar: What’s Next for the Organization?

Charlotte Regional Business Alliance announced that CEO Janet LaBar will be leaving her position in the next month. The board is currently searching for a full-time successor and has appointed an interim CEO to fill the position until a permanent replacement is found.

LaBar joined the organization in 2019, bringing with her extensive experience from her time as CEO in Portland, Oregon, and as the chief performance officer at the Phoenix Economic Development Council. During her tenure at CLT Alliance, LaBar was praised for her dedication to the region and her hard work in promoting economic growth, business advocacy, and bringing diverse stakeholders together.

Ali Summerville, an executive at Ally Financial and chair of the board executive committee, expressed his confidence in the organization’s continued success under new leadership. He stated that the support of investors, partners, and professional staff had been instrumental in achieving these goals and ensuring that Charlotte Regional Business Alliance remains a strong organization focused on economic growth.

In her statement, LaBar expressed pride in all that had been accomplished during her time at CLT Alliance. She highlighted the merger of former organizations such as Charlotte Chamber and Charlotte Regional Partnership that worked together to promote economic growth across multiple counties in North and South Carolina. She also noted how she worked with husband James LaBar, who holds a senior vice presidency at Charlotte Center City Partners to promote economic development in the area.
