Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department Conducts Unannounced Inspections to Ensure Compliance with Health and Safety Standards

Health and Food Inspections in Laramie County for the Week of March 25th to March 31st, 2024

The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department conducts unannounced inspections on various facilities such as restaurants, bars, convenience stores, delis, grocery stores, and bed and breakfasts at least twice a year. The goal of these inspections is to ensure that these establishments comply with health and safety regulations.

During these inspections, two types of violations are identified: critical violations and non-critical violations. Critical violations are those that pose a high risk of causing a foodborne illness and making someone sick, while non-critical violations are usually related to cleanliness or the upkeep of the facility.

The health department works with establishments to correct any violations immediately, especially critical ones that must be corrected within 24 hours. If a re-inspection is needed, the issue may have been more serious or required more time to fix, with establishments given a maximum of 10 days to correct the problem.

The primary goal of these inspections is not just to identify deficiencies but to educate businesses on unsafe practices and how to address them. Violations and notable information about each establishment are documented in the health department’s reports, which are available on their website for public access. This transparency allows consumers to make informed decisions about where they choose to dine or shop based on the compliance of these establishments with health and safety standards.

Recent inspection reports for the City of Cheyenne Civic Center, Paramount Café, and Rodolpho’s Mexican Grill show varying levels of violations that require attention and re-inspection for correction. These reports help ensure that establishments maintain safe practices and protect public health by identifying areas where improvements need to be made.
