Community Rallies to Support Laurium Business Owner after Vandalism: Fitzgerald’s Restaurant Hosts Fundraiser

Vandalism delays opening of Laurium business

The opening of a new business in Laurium has been delayed indefinitely after it was vandalized earlier this week. Erin Turner, the owner of Copper Country Sweets, had her bakery targeted by vandals who threw a brick through the front window.

In response to the incident, Fitzgerald’s Restaurant in Eagle River has organized a fundraising campaign to support Turner and her business. The Fitz, owned by Mike LaMotte, is collecting donations through an event on Tock, covering taxes and fees to ensure that all the money goes directly to Turner. Additionally, the Fitz is contributing $500 to the cause.

The Tock page allows people to purchase tickets to donate to Turner’s business, demonstrating that there is more good in the community than bad. Those interested in donating can visit www.exploretock.com and search for Fitzgerald’s Restaurant.

Despite efforts from the community to come together and support Turner and her business, the Laurium Police Department could not be reached for comment on the vandalism incident. However, it is clear that the community is determined to help Turner overcome this unfortunate setback and build a successful future for her business.
