Could Karl-Anthony Towns Return Before Playoffs? Minnesota Timberwolves Hold onto No. 1 Western Conference Spot

Is Karl-Anthony Towns making his comeback on the court for the Timberwolves soon?

The Minnesota Timberwolves are currently in the No. 1 spot in the Western Conference with just four regular season games left. Karl-Anthony Towns, who has been out since injuring his left meniscus in early March, recently participated in his first team scrimmage and there is speculation that he could return before the playoffs.

Following a win against the L.A. Lakers, Anthony Edwards mentioned that “KAT will be back.” Towns, who has missed 16 games since his surgery, posted on his Instagram story a message that said “Locked in” with a screenshot of Edwards looking surprised. The Timberwolves have three of their last four games at Target Center, with Towns likely to play against the Atlanta Hawks and/or Phoenix Suns at the end of the regular season.

At 54-24, the Timberwolves are the top team in the West and are guaranteed home court advantage throughout the Western Conference Playoffs. They have already secured a spot above the NBA’s Play-In series next week and are likely to be no worse than a No. 3 seed for the postseason. A healthy Towns back on the court will be a huge boost for the team as they aim to make a deep playoff run.
