Maui County releases findings from Business Health Check survey | Latest News, Sports, and Job Opportunities

In the aftermath of the wildfires that occurred in August 2023, the County of Maui Office of Economic Development (OED) conducted a survey to gather feedback from businesses directly and indirectly impacted by the fires. The survey, known as the Maui Business Health Check, received responses from 290 businesses and provided valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Maui business community.

The goal of the survey was to gain a better understanding of the obstacles businesses are facing and identify areas where additional support and resources are needed. Among the participants, 106 businesses were from Lahaina, representing various industries including tourism and hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and arts, culture, and entertainment.

Businesses shared their perspectives on a range of topics such as commercial leases, financial assistance, taxes, marketing, communications, infrastructure, and rebuilding. Luana Mahi, OED director, expressed gratitude to the businesses that took part in the survey and recognized their contributions in providing crucial feedback.

She emphasized the importance of understanding the current needs of businesses and using their input to work towards solutions that will aid in the recovery of the island.
