DCPS awarded nearly $20k in grants for technology program improvement

Daviess County Public Schools are set to receive a significant boost in technology projects thanks to nearly $20,000 in grants from the Kentucky Society for Technology in Education. One of the projects will provide hands-on experience in IT to students while another aims to establish a podcast studio.

The Apollo High School and Daviess County High School Student IT Support Pathway project will receive a grant of $9,655. This program will offer students practical experience in technology repair and maintenance within the school environment, eliminating barriers to training and equipping them with valuable skills for their future.

DCHS Assistant Principal Chad Alward stated that the program will help enhance resources and tools needed to expand its reach and effectiveness, ultimately preparing students for future career opportunities. AHS Assistant Principal Mason Head added that the grant will provide advanced technology and professional-grade equipment for the podcast studio, allowing students the flexibility to produce audio or video content on a wide range of subjects.

The second grant, amounting to $10,000, will assist DCHS in setting up a cutting-edge podcast studio where students can develop their communication skills, explore multimedia storytelling, and engage in various creative endeavors. Superintendent Matt Robbins emphasized the importance of these grants in enriching students’ learning experiences and preparing them for future career opportunities. He expressed excitement about the positive impact that these projects will have on both students and the community as a whole.
