Detroit to Launch Public Health Week on April 1

In a bid to promote the importance of public health, the Detroit Health Department has partnered with Detroit Police Department precincts, recreation centers, and community organizations for the second year in a row. This year’s theme is “Centering and Celebrating Culture in Health.” The event aims to highlight the critical services that public health offers to residents.

A range of health screenings and activities will be available to the public during Public Health Week, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and kidney function checks, HIV and syphilis testing, fitness classes, CPR training, Narcan training and kit distribution, mental health makeovers, lead screenings, cuts and conversations, and a men’s panel discussion.

Screening sessions will take place at various locations throughout the week starting on Monday, April 1st through Saturday April 6th. For more details about times and locations visit www.detroitmi.gov/health.

Public Health Week offers residents an opportunity to access important health services and information in different parts of the city.
