Dr. Chao, CEO of Optum West, is taking a stand against cardiovascular disease in Los Angeles County by supporting the American Heart Association’s mission to improve health and ensure an optimistic future for all. As the chairperson of the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk, he is leading the charge to raise awareness and funds to combat heart disease and stroke, the top causes of death in the US and worldwide.

The Heart and Stroke Walk, held annually at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, is a culmination of a year-long effort to engage local businesses and their employees in the fight against cardiovascular disease. Dr. Chao emphasizes the importance of everyone contributing to this cause, whether through volunteering, fundraising or donating, to give the gift of health to their loved ones and communities.

In his role as leader of the Greater Los Angeles Heart and Stroke Walk, Dr. Chao will work with executives from local businesses to encourage participation in the campaign. The goal is to raise $1.5 million for the American Heart Association and initiate meaningful discussions about employee wellness, corporate involvement and community health improvement.

Optum generously sponsors this event along with UCLA Health, Providence Keck Medicine of USC, Amgen among others. To learn more about this event or how you can get involved visit HeartWalkLA.org
