Dream Lake Elementary student excels in global soft skills competition

Last month, we introduced the Dream Lake Elementary Ambassadors who were preparing to compete in the Global Amazing Shake competition in Atlanta, which is known as the “Super Bowl of Soft Skills.” The group of eleven fourth and fifth graders recently returned from their trip, with fifth-grader Tyson Williams placing in the Top 8 of over 360 students from around the world.

According to Carolyn Zuclich, the Reading Specialist and Coach, the competition focused on skills like making a positive first impression, interview skills, and etiquette. Students participated in real-world scenarios and were scored on a scale of 1-20, with the highest scorers moving on to the next phases of the competition.

Tyson’s Top 8 finish is historic for Dream Lake Elementary, and he even participated in the Breakfast of Champions round, which focused on etiquette. He shared that his favorite part of the experience was spending time with his fellow ambassadors, who had been supporting him throughout the journey.

There is a possibility for Tyson to return to the Global Amazing Shake next year since the competition is open to students in fourth through eighth grade. He mentioned that one of his career goals is to become a barber because he enjoys helping people look good.

You can find more information about the Global Amazing Shake on their website. The Dream Lake Elementary team’s journey and Tyson’s success at the competition showcase the importance of soft skills and the positive impact they can have on young students.
