Embraer Hires First Round of Graduates from Tri-State Airport’s Aviation Maintenance Technology Program

Aviation maintenance technology graduates secure job agreements after graduation

Embraer, a renowned aerospace corporation, has recently hired the first round of graduates from Marshall University and Mountwest Community and Technical College’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program. These students have successfully completed the program, which was launched at Tri-State Airport near Huntington in 2022. The program offers an extensive range of skills, including knowledge of engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems. Additionally, students earn multiple certifications upon completion.

Monica Newman McCluney, head of U.S. corporate social responsibility and the Embraer Foundation, expressed pride in seeing the growth and success of these students over the past 18 months. James Smith, director of the program, emphasized the hands-on approach that equips students with industry-level skills. One student, Devin LeMaster, shared his excitement about starting his new position as a line maintenance technician at Embraer in Nashville. He will be responsible for heavy checks, inspections, and more.

The graduating class will be working at various facilities in Florida and Tennessee, showcasing the success of the Aviation Maintenance Technology program in preparing them for promising careers in the aerospace industry.
