Empowering Caregivers: A Training on Youth Mental Health First Aid in Cottonwood County, Minnesota

The Globe offers Youth Mental Health First Aid training.

Individuals who work with young people are invited to attend a training on Youth Mental Health First Aid on April 20th at the Cottonwood County Historical Society in Windom. The program, led by facilitators from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, will be conducted in Spanish and will provide participants with valuable skills to identify signs of mental illness, recognize substance use disorder, offer support during a mental health crisis, and have conversations about mental health with family and friends.

The training is specifically for adults and will include a light breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by lunch. In addition to gaining valuable skills, attendees will also receive a $25 gift card and a certificate of participation upon completion. The facilitators leading the training include an outreach project specialist and a Ph.D. student who bring their expertise to help participants learn how to effectively respond to mental health emergencies.
