Empowering Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in Dallas through Mentor Protégé Program

Inaugural Mentor Protégé Program Launched by City of Dallas Small Business Center

The City of Dallas Small Business Center is committed to fostering the growth of local Minority and Women-Owned Businesses (M/WBE) through its inaugural 2024 Mentor Protégé Program (MPP). This program, which is set to launch on May 2, 2024, aims to create partnerships and increase the overall success of small businesses in Dallas, TX.

The MPP provides one-on-one mentoring relationships, workshops, training sessions, and opportunities for networking. The program is designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of small businesses in Dallas.

The key features of the City of Dallas Small Business Center’s Mentor Protégé Program include pairing financial stable Prime Contractors with secured contracts in the City of Dallas or other municipalities with emerging M/WBE certified small business owners seeking training and knowledge to grow their financial capacity to secure contracting opportunities.

Eligible businesses are encouraged to apply for the next cohort of the program, which can be found at Small Business Mentor Protégé Program – Source Dallas. The goal of the program is to facilitate collaboration between seasoned businesses (mentors) and smaller enterprises (protégés) to help them excel as prime contractors or subcontractors in various contracting opportunities.

The City of Dallas Small Business Center was established in December 2021 with a mission to support small businesses by combining the City’s business diversity, workforce development, and entrepreneurship programs. Through its initiatives like the MPP, it aims to provide support-related activities that champion the growth and development needs of small businesses while also offering workforce readiness and re-entry services for residents. Let us all work together towards building a stronger future for our community through supporting small businesses.
